About
I am a user of and occasional tinkerer with Free Software. I’m also female. That’s relevant because I started this blog following the Women In Open Source talk I and a couple of others gave at LUGRadio Live 2006. The talk was intended to make people think, but I’ve been astounded by how much people’s responses made me think. It’s a good thing to have your views challenged by coherent argument and reasoned debate, and I suspect I’ll be mulling over some of the things said for quite some time.
The WIOS talk also resulting in conversations about getting more people in general using free software, and the fact that getting a toe in the door can be the biggest obstacle to joining the community. A number of people rallied around this problem and we’re working towards possible solutions. Watch this space for sporadic updates.
